Advancing Sustainable Environmental Health (ASEH)  Rural/Urban

Introduction :

To sustain the improvement in health, quality of life and livelihood for poor rural and urban slum communities in selected areas, NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation  has started a new project titled Advancing Sustainable Environmental Health (ASEH)  Rural/Urban during October 2003  March 2009 with the financial assistance of WAB. The project activities have been being implemented in Bazitpur upazila under Kishorganj district, Sadar upazila under Thakurgaon district and Chittagong City Corporation.

To improve the basic water and sanitation facilities of disadvantaged people through the country NGO Forum and WaterAid Bangladesh are working in collaboration and coordination for several areas. Considering the poor water and sanitation situation in selected rural and urban areas the project is implemented through community-managed and participatory approach. The project will give a better opportunity to NGO Forum to enrich its knowledge and experience in promoting WatSan that will also contribute to replicate the best practices using the countrywide network.

Project Implementation Area : 

Bazitpur upazila under Kishorganj district, Sadar upazila under Thakurgaon district and Chittagong City Corporation.

Development Objective :

Sustainable improvement in health, quality of life and livelihood for poor rural communities.

Immediate Objectives :

Improved hygiene and WatSan awareness among the men, women and children in the selected villages and slums.

Increased access to safe, sustainable and affordable water and sanitation facilities among the selected rural and urban communities.


Improved and sustainable use, operation and maintenance of the existing sanitation facilities.


Increased participation of the CBOs local government institutions and other stakeholders for the effective implementation of programme activities in the selected areas.
